Here are a few of the many drummers I've admired growing up. Below are a few players who've really made an impression on me as a drummer:
Matt Chamberlain
I first saw Matt Chamberlain in a live video of Pearl Jam's 'Alive'. He stood out to me at first because he was playing at a rock/grunge gig and using traditional grip and his playing was very clean drum parts. As my outlook as a drummer has matured, I've come to appreciate what an accomplished overall player Matt Chamberlain is, having played on so many records - some of them my favourite albums. Matt's work with Tori Amos is of particular significance to me, where his tremendous feel and impeccable timekeeping really come into their own.

JJ Johnson
I first heard of JJ Johnson when I learned he'd successfully auditioned for the drum chair in John Mayer's backing band. After checking him out, I was blown away by his feel and precision behind the kit. His playing on the live album 'Where The Light Is' stands out to me as not only as a mesmerizing drum performance but one by the whole band overall, anchored by JJ's deep pocket and impeccable time.

Carlos Vega
When I heard James Taylor's 'LIVE' album, the drumming stood out to me because it was musical, tasteful and authoritative. Gone far too early, he influenced many great drummers (such as the great Jeff Porcaro, to name one) with his musical approach and rock-steady time. His drum break in 'Country Road' is one of my favourite drum parts of all time.
